먼 길을 가려면 '함께' 가라는 말처럼, 동원은 늘 사람과 함께 걸어왔습니다. 작가의 손끝에서 태어난 작품들, 그 앞에 멈춰 선 관람객의 시선, 그리고 예술을 사랑하는 수많은 인연들이 모여 오늘의 동원을 만들었습니다.
세월 속에서 거장과 원로 작가들은 자신의 예술을 이곳에 남기고 떠났고, 그 흔적들은 시간의 층을 겹겹이 이루며 지금도 공간에 따뜻한 숨결로 살아 숨쉬어 있습니다. 그 기억 위에 동원은 동시대 예술가들과 새로운 이야기를 써 내려가고 있습니다.
40여 년의 길 위에서 동원은 언제나 예술이 머무는 정원으로 존재해 왔습니다.
그리고 앞으로의 시간 또한, 더 많은 이들과 함께 예술의 풍경을 만들어가고자 합니다.

A small flag quietly rose in the breeze in the garden of Dongwon.
Upon that flag was the name ‘Dongwon’ and dreams of art.
Like the saying that to go a long way, one must go ‘together,’ Dongwon has always walked alongside people. Works born from the artist's fingertips, the gaze of visitors pausing before them, and countless connections forged by those who love art—all gathered to create today's Dongwon.
Over the years, masters and senior artists left their art here before departing, and their traces, layered like strata of time, still breathe warmly within this space. Upon these memories, Dongwon continues to write new stories with contemporary artists.
For over 40 years, Dongwon has always existed as a garden where art resides.
And in the time to come, it seeks to create the landscape of art together with even more people.
Dongwon quietly opens its doors today, waiting for the moment when art meets people and time accumulates.
